“Dynamic”, “Inspiring”, “Vinyasa”, “Rooted in Tradition”… These are but a few of the ways Maya Yoga has been described over the years. Drawing from their years of practice and teaching, Eddie Modestini and Nicki Doane create an atmosphere where Yoga is treated as a sustainable powerful life support system. The original studio is in Maui, Hawaii, where Eddie and Nicki offer teacher trainings and Yoga retreats throughout the year. |

![]() ![]() ![]() Maya Yoga studio is nestled in the Honokala valley on the north shore of Maui down a winding red dirt road. A multi-colored peace sign nailed to a tree by the side of the road is the only indication that you have arrived. A stone statue of Ganesh, the benevolent elephant headed god, greets you at the steps leading to the studio. You climb the stairs and enter a light-filled, warm space. The early morning sun pours through the wall of windows and reflects beautifully off the cedar floor and walls. The room is breathtakingly gorgeous. Views of the Pacific Ocean and Haleakala Volcano are stunning. You have arrived at your destination — Yoga. The primary instructors are Eddie Modestini and Nicki Doane. Supporting teachers include Dominique Pandolfi and Jen Weller. In what has come to be regarded as unique in yoga today, Eddie and Nicki teach almost all of their classes together. They are able to attend to each student individually while still keeping the pace of the practice. They have learned this method of instruction from their teacher, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, who has also helped them to find, through practice, the deeper life of yoga. Too often in the west, spirituality is absent from the practice of yoga. This denies practitioners its' greatest gift — the opportunity to truly get to know ourselves. The classes at Maya Yoga strive to teach each student that yoga is about being fully present in the moment and discovering that we are truly all One. One Love. One People. One Heart. One Destination — Our Higher self. Here in the now, in this very moment from which every other moment has brought us to, here in this place and at this exact time, we follow along with the grains of our beings, the teachings of Yoga. |
